Cocodrilos inauguró la Copa Superliga venciendo a Trotamundos
El primer balón al aire para iniciar la Copa Superliga se dio en el juego de Cocodrilos de Caracas y Trotamundos de Carabobo, en el que los saurios resultaron victoriosos con marcador de 71 – 59.

Ambos equipos salieron a la cancha con quintetos abridores con mucho rigor defensivo y variantes a la ofensiva.
Carabobo, campeón de la segunda edición de la Superliga, abrió con Harold Cazorla como base, Joe Meneses, el “Chamo” Pérez de alero junto a Donta Smith y Miguel Ruiz, quienes se repartieron las funciones de pivotes. Por su parte, Caracas presentó a su piloto importado Greg Foster, con pasado en la LPB, César García, Anyelo Cisneros, Luis Bethelmy y Jovanni Díaz como cinco inicial
El inicio del cotejo fue algo errático en ataques, característico de juegos inaugurales, y con mucho roce en defensa. Sin embargo, con el pasar de los minutos, las ofensivas se asentaron y el ritmo de juego se aceleró.
Cocodrilos, un equipo distinto
El conjunto capitalino, dirigido por Carl Herrera, mostró nuevas variantes en la cancha junto con las adquisiciones que registraron en medio de la pausa entre la segunda edición de la Superliga y el presente torneo.
Acostumbrados a ver una disposición ofensiva más dependiente de individualidades y un equipo con la defensa como norte, esta nueva versión de los saurios dista mucho de las pasadas.
Por momentos, a través de una buena rotación de balón, creó muchas ventajas de cara al aro. Por ejemplo, César García quedaba emparejado con Joe Meneses. Esto se traducía en tiempo para tomar un disparo o ir al canasto aprovechando su mayor fuerza física con respecto al jugador de Carabobo.
De la misma manera, Cocodrilos encontró a tiradores con tiempo y espacio que le permitió registrar 42 % de acierto desde los tres puntos.
Trotamundos, sangre de campeón
A pesar de que no fue la mejor presentación del conjunto carabobeño, dio destellos de lo que fue la mejor versión de Donta Smith en el torneo anterior, así como vestigios ofensivos muy importantes de Rafael “Chamo” Pérez al salir de las cortinas para lanzar de media y larga distancia.
El director técnico Alfredo Madrid tendrá como tarea como aumentar la calidad de minutos de juego de sus jugadores suplentes para que esto repercuta, de inmediato, en tiempo valioso de descanso para Smith, Pérez y Miguel Ruíz, quienes están llamados a llevar la bandera del equipo.
Harold Cazorla fue quien condujo ofensivamente a Trotamundos con 17 puntos y seis asistencias.
Actos protocolares
Antes del inicio del cotejo, se hizo el respectivo salto entre dos protocolar, que estuvo a cargo de diversas autoridades del deporte y la política venezolana.
Entre los presentes para el salto entre dos, estuvieron el presidente de la Superliga, Ángel Hernández, el presidente de la Federación Venezolana de Baloncesto, Hanthony Coello, el ministro del poder popular para la Juventud y el Deporte, Mervin Maldonado y el gobernador del estado Miranda, Héctor Rodríguez.
