U21 fue presentada para el Suramericano

La Selección Nacional U21 fue presentada este jueves en la sede de la Federación Venezolana de Baloncesto, para poner rumbo al Suramericano de la categoría que se disputará en Tunja, Colombia del 12 al 17 de agosto.

En la presentación estuvieron presentes los 12 jugadores junto al resto de la delegación encabezado por el entrador del conjunto Daniel Centeno, quien aseguró tener grandes expectativas con este grupo de jóvenes talentosos.

“La preparación de alrededor de un mes de trabajo fue buena para afrontar este torneo bastante importante donde los muchachos llegan en buena forma. Tuvimos una preselección de 30 jugadores y cada semana estuvimos haciendo los cortes para lograr tener a estos 12 guerreros que van a darlo todo en este torneo”, manifestó Centeno quien viene de dirigir a Bucaneros de La Guaira en la Copa LPB.

Centeno y Berroterán serán la dupla técnica

Daniel Centeno tendrá el apoyo de Manuel Berroterán, campeón de la primera edición de la Serie A con el equipo Comuna El Cementerio y que también estuvo al mando de Marinos de Anzoátegui en la Copa LPB.

Los jugadores se prepararon en dobles sesiones de trabajo en el Parque Naciones Unidas de Caracas con énfasis en el aspecto defensivo y la preparación física, para afrontar los partidos ante los rivales del grupo, Argentina, Colombia y Chile.

“Nuestra preparación fue muy intensa, nos enfocamos mucho en lo físico. Sabemos que somos un equipo pequeño pero cada uno sabe que lo importante es buscar el rebote defensivo y correr la cancha”, comentó Ernesto Hernández capitán del equipo y jugador de Cangrejeros de Monagas en la Serie A.

El combinado Nacional partió este jueves a la ciudad de Barinas donde se concentrarán para viajar al país vecino el día viernes 9 de agosto. Están en conversaciones la disputa de un partido amistoso contra la selección de Uruguay el día domingo en Tunja. Venezuela abrirá su participación en la competición el día 12 de agosto frente a la Argentina, el martes 13 de agosto hará lo propio ante Colombia y cerrará la ronda regular contra Chile el miércoles 14 de agosto.
